Helping HIV Community Link Update Their Look!

HIV Community Link provides a multitude of resources in terms of HIV prevention, support, and advocacy. It’s a wonderful charity that has served some of Calgary and Southern Alberta’s most vulnerable populations for over 37 years! Their goal is to support those who live with, or are at risk of HIV, and help them get a better understanding of their diagnosis. The team at HIV Community Link also helps their clients improve their wellness and quality of life. They ensure clients come into a space that is rooted in a philosophy of harm reduction. They meet clients wherever they may be on their journey and help improve their current situations free of judgement!

Our offices have seen the wear and tear from years of use. The Paint4Good initiative created by The Urban Painter and Benjamin Moore has given them a beautiful update.

The Project – Downstairs Interior

The downstairs space includes the drop-in lounge for clients, Prevention & Support team offices, supportive counselling rooms, a kitchen, and washrooms. This is a safe space where clients make connections and get assistance with issues affecting their lives. It is important to the effectiveness of HIV Community Link programming and work, to provide a space for clients to feel comfortable and safe. Many of HIV Community Link’s clients felt the paint in the drop-in lounge seemed too “clinical” and would always ask when the space would be refreshed. When HIV Community Link reached out to Paint4Good with their story, we were more than happy to provide them with a transformation!

Yvonne Laanstra from Staging Calgary came in and worked with the HIV Community Link team to help select the perfect colours for this space. For the casings and doors, they selected Benjamin Moore’s Iron Mountain (#2135-30). Both the upstairs and downstairs walls were brightened up using the colour White Wisp (#2187-70) from Benjamin Moore

“Thank you to Paint4Good for their donation to our organization. Your impact not only supports our programs and services, but it also has an impact on our community!

The Project – Upstairs Interior

HIV Community Link has a multi-purpose large training room used for prevention and education training offered to the community, volunteer activities, testing clinics for HIV and other STI’s and staff meetings. Like the basement, the upstairs space was outdated and needed some love.

The big wall in the training room would become a wonderful feature wall, a design idea provided by Yvonne, and would be painted Redmont Gray (#CC 690) from Benjamin Moore. The upstairs hallway’s right wall would also have a feature colour called Night Train (#CC 720), also from Benjamin Moore!

“HIV Community Link does such great work in our community. Having the chance to update their space for staff and clients was a real privilege.”
